E-file your SARS VAT return

Posted by:

E-filing is the new standard.  If you are still submitting VAT returns manually, you should really consider SARS E-filing.  Not only will it save you the time spent trudging off to your nearest SARS office, but it will also save you a bit of money and give you a few extra days to submit your return.

For SARS E-filing users, VAT returns are only due on the last business day of the month.  Provided that you submit your VAT return and make payment on or before the last business day of the month, the benefit of no interest, penalties, or prosecution will remain in effect.

The benefits:

  1. Avoid the queues – you do not have to go into the SARS branch and  stand in queues to submit your VAT return and make payment
  2. Extra days to submit – your VAT return and payment of VAT is only due on the last business day of the month if you use E-filing
  3. VAT return history at the click of a button – SARS E-filing stores the history of all your VAT returns online anytime you need them
