VBO Management Services (Pty) Ltd (VBO) understands that your privacy is important to you.  VBO is committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personally-identifiable information, being any information that is capable of identifying you as an individual person, as you use this website.  This privacy policy sets out the practices applicable to the protection of personal information on the VBO website.  By submitting personally-identifiable information, you consent to VBO’s use of such personally-identifiable information as described herein.

This policy must be read with the Terms of Use that contain more information about our on-line terms and policies in general.

 What information do we collect?

Depending on the VBO products and services which you subscribe to, the information requirements would vary.  Customer information in general refers to personal information submitted to VBO via the website that identifies or relates to an online visitor or customer, whether they are an individual or a business.

A user may choose to provide personal information in the following examples:

  • Register on our website or for events and conferences
  • Register for premium online services
  • Subscribe to our newsletter or blog
  • Respond to a survey or fill out a form
  • Order publications
  • Submit resumes or work history information
  • Participate in “join our mailing list” initiatives

As a visitor, you do not have to submit any personal information in order to use the website.  The site collects only personally identifiable information that is specifically and voluntarily provided by visitors.  Such information may consist of, but is not limited to, your name, current job title, company address, email address and telephone and fax numbers.

In addition, VBO collects certain information that you do not visibly enter, such as your IP address, browsing pattern on the website, HTTP protocol elements, and the status of cookies placed on your computer by VBO.

Visitors are also able to send email through the site.  Their messages will contain the user’s screen name and email address, as well as any additional information the user may wish to include in the message.  Because we also use the website as a recruiting tool, a visit to the website may also result in the user sending a resume to an individual within VBO.

We do not usually seek sensitive information (e.g., data relating to race or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, criminal record, physical or mental health, or sexual orientation) from visitors.  We will, where necessary, obtain visitors’ explicit consent to collect and use such information.

What do we use your information for?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

To personalize your experience – The information that you provide assists us in attending and responding to your individual needs.  Should you submit your details for us to contact you, the website will forward your information to our corresponding mailbox;

To improve our website – We constantly strive to enhance our website services based on the information and feedback received from you, the user;

To improve customer service – The information that you provide will assist us to effectively and efficiently respond to your customer service requests and support needs;

To process transactions – Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested;

To send periodic emails – The email address you provide for order processing, may be used to send you information and updates pertaining to your order, in addition to receiving occasional company news, updates, related product or service information, etc.  We will ensure that our marketing activities comply with applicable law, and implement procedures to obtain necessary consents before sending you emails containing information about VBO service offerings.

Newsletters and Alerts

By registering for any VBO recurring newsletters or alerts, you agree to receive on occasion other correspondence from VBO related to the subscribed newsletters and other VBO news.  This type of information is shared externally only in anonymous, aggregated form for generalised user analysis or to enable third party agents to send e-mails to you on our behalf.  You will be contacted by e-mail or otherwise only by VBO or it agents.  We ask for your e-mail address at registration.  We will send e-mails to this address to confirm your registration, to provide newsletters or alerts and to contact you for any other reason.  Your e-mail address will not be shared with any third party other than an agent who has agreed to send e-mails on our behalf.  The VBO website also includes a feature that enables VBO to send links to its content through e-mail at our users’ request.  The e-mail address that you supply in connection with this service will be used only to send the requested content.

 How do we protect your information?

VBO intends to protect the quality and integrity of your personal information.  VBO has implemented appropriate technical and organizational information security to help it keep your information secure, accurate, current, and complete.  However, VBO cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to it online and you do so at your own risk.

VBO will make commercially reasonable efforts to respond to your requests to correct inaccuracies in your personal information in a timely manner.  To assist VBO in correcting inaccuracies in your personal information please return the message containing the inaccuracies to VBO with details of the correction requested.

Do we use cookies?

To ensure that the VBO website is well managed and to facilitate improved navigation within the site, cookies are used.  Cookies are small files which are sent from this website and stored by your web browser (if you allow), that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.  In this way, the next time you use this website, it will know who you are and that you have visited this website before.  VBO may contract with third-party service providers to assist them to better under their site visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on behalf of VBO except to help VBO conduct and improve their business.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

VBO does not trade, sell or otherwise provide and / or transfer to outside parties your personal identifiable information.  This does not include (and accordingly is not limited to) trusted third parties who provide the necessary assistance in operating the VBO website, conducting VBO business and / or providing VBO service(s) to you, on the premise that the receiving party maintains confidentiality over such information.

VBO must and / or may release your information to law enforcement, regulatory or other government agencies, or third parties if compelled to do so by law or any regulatory authority,  to comply with any relevant legislation or any legal process, if same is required to enforce VBO policies, the protection of VBO and / or others rights, property, person or safety.  Non-personal and / or identifiable information may be utilised and / or provided to other parties for marketing, advertising or other uses.

Occasionally VBO may provide links to third-party websites or information as a service to our users.  These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies.  Such links do not constitute or imply an endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation by VBO of the third party, the third party website, or the information contained therein, and VBO shall not be responsible or liable for your use thereof.  Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

Children’s Privacy Protection

VBO understands the importance of protecting children’s privacy, especially in an on-line environment.  This website is not designed for or directed at children 13 years of age or younger.  It is not our policy to intentionally collect or maintain information about anyone under the age of 13.

This online privacy policy is applicable only to that information obtained and assimilated through our website and not to information acquired offline or any other websites that may and / or may not be associated with this one.
